Description
This was going to be my entry for #FinalFantasyInfinity's World Map contest, but when I finished it, I noticed that the people in it had too much importance, and decided to draw another one that you will see soon (who guesses which place it's going to be gets a virtual cookie)~
Well, twas good for background practice~ And there's not enough Final Fantasy VIII fan art anyway >:
The place I had chosen was Balamb. It's one of the simplest towns, and that's probably the reason I like it so much (along with the musical theme). This is, exactly, the Balamb Station, where you find the Queen of Cards
It has beautiful colours~
Final Fantasy VIII sure has the World Map where I spent most of my time
I'm surprised at how not many people love FFVIII ;3;
(Are you shocked I didn't go for Gold Saucer?
I think there's enough of it in my gallery, plus I wanted to show some love for underappreciated VIII 
Don't worry. The actual entry I'll submit later isn't about Gold Saucer either. XD And I'll tell you more, it isn't even about 7.)
Now, about the picture:
I drew the characters in casual outfits, to give the impression of a random day in town. I tried not to occupy most of the space with them, as the main focus had to be on the location and not on the people in it, and make them interact with the space around them (Zell and Squall going out of the station, as they're coming back from a little trip, Raijin buying a magazine in the shop -Timber Maniacs!-, Seifer & Fujin waiting for Raijin to come in order to leave and go somewhere else where there aren't undesired guests).
I love Fujin! =3= (but I think I like everybody in FFVIII

(yes, Zell's handing a sandwich to Squall. How generous of him! Truth is, he already knows Squall will say no because he wants to keep his figure)
This has to be one of the most complete drawings I've ever done (setting-wise) and I'm pretty satisfied with it
Credits for the textures go to CGtextures.com (I think I would've died drawing the ground brick by brick manually. :'D
Last thing I added is subtitles :'''D So it looks like FFVIII anime! (Seifer, you're mean. You probably don't know, but the world is not yours.)

I'm a great fan of ff8 too. I don't have a clue why it's not popular... but for me it's the best game ever. I'm curently playing ff8 again and I let the BGU at Balamb and decided to travel with common transportation to visit the towns! I took the train in Balamb to Timber (the only line, after all!) then I whent to dollet via train again, then came back to Timber and took a ticket to Deling City! where I took the bus to go from places to places! I'm right know at caraway's manor. (and I've painted the mural XD I couln't resist)! I play triple triad with the Major! XD
You may say I'm crazy... yes! I'm crazy about ff8, for about 13 years now! XD
You really did a great job with the bacground! I love that place and it looks awesome! Zell's nice, isn't he! >.< Oh and I love Fujin's clothes! <3
